Wood Bar
I want to build a wood gate door that will not sag, can someone help me out?
I have a gate now but it sags, is there some kind of wood cross bar that could help the gate to remain even?
this problem isnt too hard to deal with. but you need to be good with your hands
go to lowes. get two eyelet bolts(you will put a washer on both ends and have it bolted to the door(need to drill a hole)) get a cable(preferably one that will be strong enough to take a decent amount of load) 2 or 4 of those things that will connect two ends of the cable. get a stainless steel turnbuckle(two eyelets with a threaded conection between them) drill holes that will fit your eyelet bolts, one on the top corner on the hinge side and one on the botom on the opening side(diagnaly) use washers to ensure that they dont just dig in to the wood. then firmly tighten the nut that will hold it in place(use a washer) then, use one of those cable connecters to fasten a loop of cable. the cable should go trough the eyelet on the top of the door, and one of the turn buckle ends. you can use two connecters if you just want one length of cable. then, with the turnbuckle fully opened(as long as it can go) conect the remaining end with the other eyelet on the botom of the door. the turnbuckle should end up in the middle of the door. then, tighten the turnbuckle untill cable is tight, and the door no longer sags. it is best if you use a stainless steel one because if the door sags more in the coming years, you dont want a rusty turnbuckle that you cant turn.
